The currency of Slovenia is the Slovene Tolar, with one Tolar equalling 100 Stotins. Notes come in denominations of SIT10,000, 5000, 1000, 500, 200, 100, 50, 20 and 10, with coins coming in denominations of SIT10, 5, 2 and 1, and 50 Stotins. Currency can be easily exchanged at a number of locations – bureau de changes, banks, hotels, larger travel agencies and some supermarkets. Whilst the Tolar is readily accepted and easy to exchange in Slovenia, it can prove difficult to exchange the currency in other countries and as such it is recommended that remaining currency is changed back to an ‘easier’ tender. Traveller’s cheques are accepted widely, though to avoid additional charges they should be made out in US Dollars, Pounds Sterling or Euros. ATMs are located throughout the country, and both credit and debit cards are accepted in larger establishments. See: Visa: http://www.visa.com/atms/ MasterCard: http://www.mastercard.com/cardholderservices/atm/ The import and export of domestic currency is unlimited, provided amounts of SIT3,000,000 and above are declared.
